With 28 votes in favor, the candidate proposed by the Government of Dina Boluarte will assume the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic, replacing Nelson Shack.
In a session that took place quickly, the Permanent Commission approved —unanimously with 28 votes in favor, zero against and zero abstentions— the recommendation of César Aguilar Surichaqui as the new Comptroller General of the Republic, after being proposed by the Executive to replace the outgoing Nelson Shack. Right, center and left-wing parties supported this designation, which should be made official in the next few hours through a resolution issued by Parliament.
Who is Cesar Aguilar Surichaqui?
The Executive’s proposal is César Aguilar Surichaqui, who is a lawyer graduated from the University of San Martín de Porres (USMP). He has a Master’s Degree in Strategic Business Administration from the Catholic University of Peru and master’s studies in Civil and Commercial Law and Constitutional Law from the USMP. He specialized in Administrative Law, State Contracting and Arbitration from the ESAN University and the State Contracting Supervisory Body (OSCE).
In the professional field, he has experience in the public and private sectors. He served as General Manager of service companies. In the public sector, he has worked as a lawyer for the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion, Secretary of the Transitional Civil Chamber of the Supreme Court of the Republic and Magistrate of the Superior Court of Justice of Lima Norte.
He has also been appointed President of the Higher Court of Administrative Responsibilities (TSRA) on three occasions and currently holds the position of President of Chamber 1 of the same court in the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic.
César Aguilar is an undergraduate and graduate professor at the Peruvian University of Applied Sciences (UPC) and the University of the Pacific.
