Mexico pledged yesterday to work on the Alliance for Economic Prosperity in the Americas, an initiative announced last year by US President Joe Biden.

During the ninth Summit of the Americas, held in June in Los Angeles, California, Biden announced the creation of the alliance, focused on promoting the growth of the economies of the region with the priority of reducing inequality between societies, protecting the most vulnerable people and encourage the creation of well-paid jobs.

When participating in a virtual ceremony led by the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, in which the alliance was launched, Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard said that this project it will translate into well-being.

At the launch of the project, in which the Secretary of the Economy, Raquel Buenrostro, as well as representatives of Canada, Barbados, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Panama, Peru, the Dominican Republic and Uruguay, also participated, the foreign minister congratulated the start of Biden’s initiative because, he said, For many years we did not have that type of possibility and for Latin America and the Caribbean it is a great sign that we want to recognize; that Mexico recognizes, Antony, you and President Biden for the invitation you extend to us.

Secretary Blinken mentioned that there is no region with which the United States is more connected than the Americas; He stressed that joint work in this alliance will be vital to seek more opportunities for the benefit of their peoples and thus face global challenges together.
