After months of Mexican diplomats and their families have had to survive in precarious conditions – without basic equipment such as a refrigerator, beds, stove, washing machine, tables, crockery and cutlery – due to non-compliance by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE ) of the transfer of household goods, the agency asserted that the processes have been reactivated to resolve the problem shortly.
He promised that in the 13 most urgent cases, the goods of the members of the Mexican Foreign Service (SEM) affected by the delay, will be delivered in five, 10 and 18 days, since they are already in the assigned destination. He acknowledged that there are 168 removals that are in transit, of which 64 present some type of delay, in three the transfer has been reactivated and 48 are still pending.
Diplomats removed from assignment as part of the 2021 Rotation Program have been surviving between four and six months without their belongings, for which they have denounced the situation in various ways and demanded answers from SRE officials, in particular Moisés Poblano, head of the Administration and Finance Unit (UAF), as reported in previous editions of La Jornada.
Last night, that unit justified that the delays occurred because the company contracted for the service, Sancalsa Servicios Internacionales SA de CV, reported administrative imbalances
due to the health emergency of covid-19. He asserted that he has applied the deductions and penalties established in the contract for non-compliance, although he clarified that the company acted as established and participates efficiently in the reactivation of household items

The explanation was offered after yesterday at noon, at a conference, Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard was questioned on the subject. His reply was brief and in it he showed that the inconvenience has been going on for a long time:

The UAF clarified that as part of the process of transferring the belongings of the diplomats removed from assignment, the company provides insurance that covers possible damage caused to the goods (which have been accumulated in warehouses for months), which can be made valid by the SEM staff who so require
