While the attendance of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador at the Summit of the Americas, which begins tomorrow in Los Angeles, has not yet been defined, since the beginning of this week a delegation of officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) has participated in that city in the final negotiations of the documents to be adopted in the continental conclave.

The team, led by the permanent representative of Mexico to the Organization of American States, Luz Elena Baños, and Efraín Guadarrama, director of American Regional Mechanisms, promotes agreements on respect for the sovereignty and self-determination of peoples, as well as on integration and regional cooperation.

Both participate in the preparatory meeting for the ninth Summit of the Americas, work sessions where regional coordinations review the projects of political commitments in clean and renewable energy, health and resilience, green and sustainable future, digital transformation and democratic governance, in accordance with official sources.

The official organization of the summit, in charge of the United States, has reported that it is the last meeting before the start of the meeting of leaders. With the leadership of the United States government, the national coordinators discuss the political commitment project in favor of building a more resilient, sustainable and equitable region.

The agreements will be part of the results of the ninth Summit of the Americas.

As Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard instructed, Mexico will defend non-intervention and self-determination of peoples, promoting cooperation and dialogue among all the countries of the hemisphere.Guadarrama pointed out on social networks. He added that in the negotiations Mexico remains firm in the defense of its constitutional principles, its sovereignty, inclusive hemispheric dialogue and cooperation.

Ebrard said on Friday that the country has already formed the delegation that will participate in the Summit and that the documents that the country will present are ready. These include labor mobility, migration and power generation, among other topics, he mentioned in a meeting with journalists.

There he also said that President López Obrador will personally attend the Summit of the Americas, as he has stated, if all the countries of the continent are invited to the regional meeting, and that otherwise he will not, although a Mexican delegation will go.

The inclusion of Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua in the conclave, as requested by Mexico, Bolivia, Argentina, Chile, Honduras and other countries, has not yet been officially ruled out by the United States; however, analysts have pointed out that it is an unlikely scenario.
