Cuban sprinter Reynier Mena established one of the best records in history in the 200 m by winning the Resisprint International in the Swiss city of La Chaux de Fonds, with a time of 19.63 s (+1.2), the best time for an athlete born in the Island, media outlets stand out.
Mena, 25 years old, and who competes for the Benfica club, achieved the record on a historic day, since shortly before timed a record of 9.99 in the 100 m, the third best Cuban mark in history in the hectometer test, in competition where he anchored second behind Yupun Abeykoon, from Sri Lanka, who rose with a time of 9.96.
For the young athlete who applied to drop from the national team last year, this result places him third of the season in the 200 m, only surpassed by the Americans Erriyon Knighton (19.49 s) and Noah Lyles (19.61 s).

Mena’s record of 19.63 s places him as the tenth athlete in the entire history of the double hectometer lap, tied with Xavier Carter, a few days before the start of the World Championship in Eugene, United States, although the Cuban will not be able to participate until because of its separation from the Cuban athletics federation.
On this Sunday’s day the short hurdler Roger Iribarne, who also plays for Benfica, reached the first position in the 110 meter hurdles, with a record of 13.26 s, to beat the Swiss Mathieu Jaquet (13.48 s) and the Frenchman Ronan Greff (13.59 s).
