On Monday night, the sports writer Gustavo Jarquín died, who in the morning suffered a heart attack while broadcasting his program “Cápsulas deportivas” on La Corporación radio.
“Radio Corporación is saddened to announce the sensitive death of our valued sports writer, Gustavo Jarquín. He resisted and battled for more than 11 hours with a serious medical situation that left him unconscious ”, confirmed the station The death of the sports journalist.
In the morning hours, the commentator spoke on his sports program and suddenly stopped doing so because his blood pressure rose, which caused his heart attack. His radio colleagues immediately helped him in the transmission booth and took him to a private clinic in an emergency and later, given his serious condition, to a hospital.
“He died at the German Nicaraguan Hospital, where he was hospitalized for more than 11 hours. His diagnosis was reserved, since he entered the hospital he was intubated, ”journalist Marcos Medina, Jarquín’s co-worker, told Article 66.
The station detailed on its website that, until now, the hospital’s medical staff has not provided a diagnosis of what happened to Jarquín.

Medina, who was one of the colleagues who helped Jarquín in the radio booth, acknowledges that it has been “hard” for him to process the moment in which the chronicler vanished in the middle of the program, “later loaded and taken to a hospital. It’s a sudden hit,” he says.
“Practically every morning we greeted each other by giving each other a joke. I would leave the newscast and he would enter his program. He was a quiet but kind co-worker.” Medina remembers him.
In addition to being a sportswriter, Jarquín worked as a national and international boxing judge until, on February 12, 2020, he was suspended by the Nicaraguan National Professional Boxing Commission for his criticism of the regime of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo, according to reported at that time.
The sports journalist was also part of the World Boxing Association (WBA) since 2011.
