Six people died and nine were injured in a serious accident involving a speedboat, on the banks of the Rio Grande, on the border between Minas Gerais and São Paulo, on Saturday night (21), at around 11:30 pm. According to the Minas Gerais Fire Department, the vessel, from Franca, in the interior of São Paulo, had 15 occupants and collided with the structure of a pier. The accident site is on the Minas Gerais side of the river, in the municipality of Sacramento.
Of the nine survivors, initially rescued by Civil Defense teams, three were hospitalized in Rifânia (SP) and the others did not suffer serious injuries. Among the dead were three women, two men and a 4-year-old child. Identities were not released.
The boat pilot, who died in the accident, did not have a license in the Arrais-Amador category, required for this type of nautical transport, informed the Minas Gerais Fire Department.
