The new Minister of Housing and Territorial Planning, Raul Lozano, He held his first meeting with President Luis Lacalle Pou this Tuesday as Secretary of State in the Executive Tower.
“He asked me that the different plans and programs be executed quickly and efficiently, which is exactly what I have as a priority. We are in 100% agreement without a doubt,” Lozano said at a press conference after the meeting.
The lobbyist was appointed to head the ministry after the request to resign from Irene Moreira by Lacalle Pou, after it became known that he awarded discretionary housing for a member of Cabildo Abierto.
On this point, Minister Lozano said that They did not discuss the issue with Lacalle Pou and added that the ministry will have to “review this regulation so that there are no gray areas.”
Earlier, the new minister had announced that he would will repeal the regulations in which Irene Moreira took refuge to give the house directly to Mónica Píriz, the party militant.
The request for Moreira’s resignation generated a crisis in the coalition that led to the Cabildo Abierto discussing his permanence. However, the party ended up deciding to stay, but criticized Lacalle Pou for his “personalized” driving, according to the words of its leader, Guido Manini Ríos.
“Obviously we had an important day at the Political Table yesterday but finally there was a resolution that was to continue in the coalition. We feel that we are going to be more united and stronger. We are going to try to make the coalition work and to make it work better. We plan to continue until the last day of the government,” said Lozano in this regard.
