ASSE delivered 8 new vehicles to expand healthcare coverage, one for Melo

The State Health Services Administration (ASSE) delivered 8 new vehicles, three of which will be destined to SAME 105, while the rest will be destined to the Chuy Auxiliary Center and the hospitals of Melo, Maldonado, Durazno and Mercedes. During the period, the organization delivered 202 transfer units. The president of the entity, Marcelo Sosa, indicated that they reached the places where they were most needed.

“We have tried to reach the most remote places in the country and support the different executing units in the work that transfers and their complexity entail,” said the leader, this Friday 23, accompanied by the vice president, Néstor Graña, the member, Julio Micak, and the director of the Emergency Medical Care System (SAME) 105, José Antonio Rodríguez.

Sosa highlighted the achievements of SAME 105 during this administration. In this regard, he mentioned that in 2020 there were 6 operational bases, while today there are 29, based on a decentralization policy.

He reported that the bases are installed in Montevideo, throughout the department of Canelones, and that they reach 15 localities, in Ciudad del Plata, San José, Juan Lacaze and Colonia Valdense, in Colonia, La Capuera in Maldonado, Bella Unión, in Artigas and Rivera.

On the other hand, he pointed out that, from 7 adult emergency ambulances in 2020, there are now 32. In pediatrics, there are now 0 to 7 specialized ambulances. As for telephone lines, he stressed that, from 20 lines, the number has increased to 120. Since August 2021, 3,303,155 calls have been registered.

Regarding the waiting time, he specified that it is 15 to 20 seconds. As for the assignment of transfers, he stated that it is about 10 to 12 minutes and is immediate in cases of key 1 or life-threatening.

This strengthening of the service also involved investment in human resources, going from 387 to 965 staff, he said. In addition, 197,312 transfers have been made between March 2020 and July 2024. In the same period, 718,527 assistance services were carried out.

Regarding infrastructure, he noted that 3,500 square meters were remodeled.
