SLP, Mexico.- The Institute of Meteorology (INSMET) of Cuba issued a special warning due to the threat of rain, showers and storms electricity in the western region, due to the proximity of a cold front that advances over the southeastern Gulf of Mexico.
The note published this Wednesday warns that the high migratory pressures located over the western Atlantic also influence Cuba and the cold front could arrive in the country this Wednesday.
The storm areas cover about 500 kilometers from the north of the Yucatan Peninsula to Key West, the note insisted.
“Associated with the passage of storm areas, heavy rains may be generated in some locations in the western region, mainly Pinar del Río, Artemisa and Havana,” the report indicated.

In addition, they specified, in inland areas and the northern coast where strong storm activity occurs, “severe weather” events may occur, such as strong gusty winds, hail, and others.

According to meteorologist Raydel Ruisánchez, the prefrontal band with strong activity of showers, rains and thunderstorms is expected to begin to affect western Cuba during the afternoon.
“From time to time the rains and storms can be strong, especially towards areas of the north coast. Starting tomorrow, a drop in temperatures is expected with cool days and cold mornings,” wrote.
For this daythe Institute of Meteorology had indicated that the sky would be cloudy in the west and partially cloudy in the center and east as well as in areas of its northern coast with isolated showers in the morning.
In the early afternoon, showers, rain and some thunderstorms would occur in Pinar del Río and Artemisa, which will spread to the rest of the west.
Maximum temperatures will be between 28 and 31 degrees Celsius, higher in some locations in the south east. At night temperatures will be between 21 and 24 degrees Celsius.
The winds will blow from the south to the southwest, between 10 and 25 kilometers, turning at night to the northwest on the western north coast.
