Provea, Venezuelan Justice, Foro Penal, Freedom Committee for Political Prisoners and Access to Justice presented their contributions
The Special Commission for the Promotion of Consultation of the Amnesty Bill for Democratic Coexistence held a meeting, this Saturday at the Federal Legislative Palace, with representatives of Non-Governmental Organizations: Provea, Venezuelan Justice, Foro Penal, Committee for Freedom for Political Prisoners and Access to Justice.
The president of this body, deputy Jorge Arreaza, described as extraordinary the day where the contributions of the NGOs to nourish the project were heard.
During the meeting, Óscar Murillo (Provea), Lilia Camejo (Venezuelan Justice), Gonzalo Himiob (Criminal Forum), Ali Daniels (Access to Justice) and Omar de Dios García (Clippve) participated, who delivered documents with observations and suggestions on the articles of the law.
Arreaza urged Venezuelans to move towards national unity and supported the proposal to integrate NGOs into the Domestic Policy Commission to review legal codes. “We must reach consensus to consolidate, united, the peace and sovereignty of Venezuela for the years to come,” he indicated.
The vice president of the commission, deputy Nora Bracho, expressed her satisfaction with the day and thanked the human rights defenders for their presence. “Despite our differences and visions, we must always find common ground. This law will guide us towards a future framed by respect for the Constitution, the laws, due process and, of course, respect for citizens,” he concluded.
