Spanish teams save the lives of two children buried in Turkey

Madrid, Feb 11 (EFE).- Spanish relief teams have rescued this Saturday in Turkey two children buried by the rubble of buildings collapsed by the strong earthquakes on Monday, which have caused almost 22,000 deaths, in addition to 3,000 in Syria, and more than 85,000 injuries between the two countries.

Firefighters displaced from Spain they managed to get a minor out alive who was trapped under the remains of a building, while Spanish soldiers participated in the rescue of another child.

The members of the team from the NGO Bomberos para el Mundo were able to initially offer water to the minor when he was still buried and managed to free him with the help of machinery after ten hours of work.

This rescue is in addition to others carried out this week in Turkey in the province of Hatay.

Spanish Marines participated in the rescue of another seven-year-old boy from the rubble of one of the collapsed buildings in the downtown area of ​​Iskenderun.

The soldiers were collaborating in the cleaning and debris removal work when they heard the child, who had been buried for five days, although the final phase of the operation was carried out by Turkish personnel, confirmed sources from the Ministry of Spanish Defense.

“The situation was a bit chaotic, since it was the fifth day after the earthquake and the chances of finding someone alive were drastically decreasing,” said a Marine.
