Spanish festival Barna Sants will host a concert by Pedro Luis Ferrer

The legendary songwriter festival, BarnaSants, is held until May 8 in the Spanish city of Barcelona, ​​with a strong presence of troubadours cubans.

Dedicated to the Chilean troubadour Víctor Jara 50 years after his assassination, the event recently hosted a concert by Liuba Maria Hevia as part of his tour of various regions of Spain to present his new album, and in the near future he will have the great Cuban singer-songwriter Pedro Luis Ferrer among his protagonists.

The author of songs like “Grandfather Paco”, “100 percent Cuban” and “How I like to speak Spanish”, will offer a concert on March 28 at the Gabriel García Márquez library in Barcelona.

The notable musician, who in 2022 celebrated his 70th birthday, will be accompanied at the presentation by his daughter Lena Ferrer, who is presenting her book poems without bookpublished by the Media Vaca publishing house and illustrated by the Valencian artist Marta Piña.

More than 500 artists participate in the festival, including a dozen island minstrelswhich will pay homage to the late Pablo Milanés and Vicente Felíu, with the interpretation of several of their anthological songs.

Sources from the organizing committee pointed out to OnCuba that the participation of Cuban musicians has always gained great relevance within the festival and has been excellently received by the public.

Among the performers from the island who will also perform on the Barnasants stage are Leonardo García, Heidi Igualada, Inti Santana, Marta Campos, Yaíma Orozco and Karel García. The latter will present his new album on the street.

The program includes nearly 90 concerts on different stages in which important figures of Catalan song participate, such as Miquel Gil, Sílvia Comes, Rubén Pozo, Francesc Pi de la Serra, and Tomeu Penya, among others, the organizers indicated.

The BarnaSants festival is one of the most recognized author song events in Spain and promotes both established musicians and new names in this musical aspect. Since its foundation, it has maintained close ties with Cuba and different figures from the island have performed throughout its different editions.
