The deputy of the Podemos party Javier Sánchez Serna, in the Spanish Congress, criticized the foreign policy of the Spanish Government towards Latin America and deplored the reception of Edmundo González Urrutia as president of Venezuela, after comparing it with the failed support for Juan Guaidó.
“The entire foreign policy of this Government in Latin America has us, frankly, baffled,” he asserted.
Sánchez Serna extolled before Congress that the Spanish Government has a double standard policy to measure refugees: “They give refuge to Edmundo González and right after they welcome him they say that he is the president of Venezuela, when we have learned that he “He himself, before his lawyers, ignored the minutes that allegedly affirmed his victory, so it seems that you want to repeat the same operation of Juan Guaidó.”
Likewise, Sánchez Serna asserted that Spain has carried out actions that “have contributed to the fracture of ties with Venezuela.”
The parliamentarian called on the Spanish Government to be “more prudent” and proceed to endure “a little more pressure from the right and to commit to the principles of sovereignty, non-interference and mutual recognition.”
