The Spanish company GMV signed its first contract in the public transport sector of Colombia, after its ‘SAE-R’ system has been chosen For the management of the Metro trams of the 80s of Medellín, also known as Ecociudad Ecociudad.

As reported on Monday, the company in a statement, the contract, granted by Siemens after a private bidding process, includes the implementation of the system of exploitation and planning of the service, which is expected to enter into operation in 2028.
This system will allow Metro de Medellín to monitor in real time and optimize the operation of the 20 double cabins that will circulate through the new 13.25 kilometers line with 17 stations, that will travel the city from North to South on 80 Avenue, main axis of the west of the city.

The award is the first GMV project with the Chinese manufacturer CRRC, responsible for supplying the trains, and reinforces the presence of the Spanish firm in the international market, where it already works with urban transport operators in countries such as Australia, Poland or Chile, among others.
