The Spanish airline Iberojet inaugurated this November 11 an air route between Madrid and Santiago de Cuba, the second city with the largest population on the Island, which will now have at least one weekly connection with the Iberian country until March 2023.
“Happy to inaugurate our first flight to Santiago de Cuba, a route with a direct flight from Spain and that is available throughout the year, so that our passengers have the opportunity to enjoy a destination that has a lot to offer,” said a company statement that public the Preferred specialized site.
According to a report of Prensa Latina, the air route began its operations this Friday with an Airbus 33, after a farewell ceremony was held at Terminal 1 of the Barajas airport, in Madrid, headed by Paul Verhagen, deputy general director of Iberojet; Jon Arriaga, president of DIT Management, and Niurka Pérez Denis, Cuban Minister of Tourism for Spain and Portugal.
The agency itself highlighted the importance of the new route, which will allow a more direct connection with different points in Eastern Cuba such as Santiago, Baracoa, Holguín, Camagüey and Las Tunas.

In principle, the flight to Santiago will not have stopovers and will be added to the two weekly connections of the Spanish company between Madrid and Havana.
