(EFE).- More than 80 Spanish companies will participate in the 38th edition of the Havana International Fair (Fihav) from November 14 to 18, according to the Spanish Embassy in Cuba on Tuesday.
The diplomatic legation explained that the Institute of Foreign Trade of Spain – attached to the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism – will have four pavilions where 40 firms will present their products.
In addition, the note adds, there will be “a pavilion of Basque companies, which will bring together the most important companies” of the autonomous community “that do business with Cuba.”
During the first day of the event –which is the most important commercial exchange in the country– the Day of Spain will be celebrated at FIHAV.

The fair, established in 1983, will return to its usual format after the two-year break due to the covid-19 pandemic.
At the meeting there will be a representation of the main entities of goods and services in the country and the V Foreign Investment Forum will be held to present the Portfolio of Business Opportunities.
It will also be the presentation of Cuba as the venue for the Expo Aladi (Latin American Integration Association) Multisectoral Business Roundtable.
Fihav was replaced in 2020 and 2021 by a business forum and a virtual fair that promoted exchange between Cuban and foreign businessmen.
The last edition of 2019 was attended by more than 4,000 participants from some 55 countries, of which Spain was the most represented with 110 companies, according to official data.
Its usual venue is the Expocuba fairgrounds in the Cuban capital. There are 280 foreign companies operating on the Island from some 40 countries, including Spain, Canada and China.
The attraction of foreign investment is of vital importance for the Cuban economy, immersed in an unprecedented crisis.

Argentina will also participate in the fair with numerous businessmen, a visit preceded by that of the Secretary for Development Planning and Competitiveness of the Ministry of Economy, Jorge Neme, who was yesterday with Miguel Díaz-Canel to talk about collaboration in development projects in the island’s agri-food sector.

“We talked about promising projects in agriculture and trade,” said Díaz-Canel.
This is the second visit to the island by the senior Argentine government official since last May, when he was also received by Díaz-Canel, after holding a series of meetings with Cuban authorities in order to advance an agreement to boost production growth. of food on the Island and the gradual substitution of imports of basic products.
