The offer to give Spanish nationality to another 94 Nicaraguans is added to the one made on February 10 by President Pedro Sánchez, to the 222 people expelled from Nicaragua and whose nationality was withdrawn by order of the government of Daniel Ortega
The Spanish government extended the offer of Spanish nationality to the 94 Nicaraguan citizens who have just been declared stateless by the judicial authorities of their country, including the human rights defender Vilma Núñez and the writer and politician Sergio Ramírez.
The Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, has reported of this offer to Ramírez himself, who in turn has addressed a letter to the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, as reported this Friday by the Ministry in an official statement reviewed by the agency efe.
This offer is in addition to the one made on February 10 by the Executive of Pedro Sánchez to the 222 people expelled from Nicaragua and whose Nicaraguan nationality was withdrawn.
The proposal of the Spanish Government is extended “to any citizen of Nicaragua who in the future may be left stateless due to the decisions” of the Executive of Daniel Ortega.
