He National Council for the Aging (Conape) opened this Thursday at the Bella Vista sectorof Santiagoa new home intended to offer care, attention and recreational spaces to the older adults of the community during the day.
The center, third of this type that is put into operation in the city, has a ability to attend to 60 people.
He national director of Conape, Antonio Vicentehighlighted that the opening is part of the government policy Dominican Republic to guarantee well-being and protection to the elderly.
“This is a home where the older adults arrive or are picked up at 8 in the morningthey stay with us during the day receiving medical attentionfood and recreation, and at 5 in the afternoon they return to their homes,” Vicente explained.
The official recalled that, in addition to the centers operated directly by the Conapein Santiago there are also non-profit associations supported and subsidized by the institution, which work with the same mission of offering comprehensive assistance to elderly people.

For its part, the provincial governor of Santiago, Rosa Santosexpressed that the opening of the new home represents a significant contribution for both the elderly and their relatives.
“This means a better quality of life for our older adultsbut also a relief for the families “That many times they cannot work because they must stay in the care of their relatives,” Santos highlighted.
