As of midnight next Friday (16th), tolls in São Paulo will be readjusted, and may become up to 12% more expensive. The adjustment in toll rates was authorized by the Transport Agency of the State of São Paulo (Artesp) and the decision was published today (14) in State Official Gazette??
The readjustment will vary between 10.72% (which considers the readjustment by the General Price Index – Market, the IGP-M) and 11.73% (which considers the readjustment by the evolution of the Extended National Consumer Price Index – IPCA) .
As a result, on roads managed by the Tebe, Intervias, Triângulo do Sol, Renovias and Colinas concessionaires, the increase will be 10.72%, a value that was based on the evolution of the IGP-M between June 2021 and May 2022.
As for the highways under concession of the companies Autoban, Rota das Bandeiras, ViaOeste, Cart, ViaRondon, SPVias, Rodovias do Tietê, Ecovias, Ecopistas, Rodoanel Oeste and Rodoanel South and East sections, the increase in the tariff will be 11.73%. This percentage considers the evolution of the IPCA from June 2021 to May 2022.
The readjustment in toll rates was scheduled to take place in July this year, but was postponed by the then governor of São Paulo, Rodrigo Garcia. According to Artesp, the postponement was due to the “sensitive economic situation existing at the time, with high inflation and unbridled rise in prices, especially fuel, which caused a ripple effect in the consumer’s pocket”. Rodrigo Garcia ran for re-election for governor of São Paulo and was defeated.
