São Paulo’s trade and services sector generated about 357,000 new formal jobs in 2024. The data are from Employment Research in the State of São Paulo (PESP), the State, Services and Tourism Federation of Commerce of Goods, Services and Tourism. from São Paulo (Fecomérosp). 
The trade segment ended last year with an increase of 81.2 thousand new celetistas – an increase of 22.7% compared to last year. The service sector, on the other hand, had a 21.6% increase in the same period, with the creation of 276.2 thousand jobs with a formal contract.
According to the survey data, the retail responded for more than half of the vacancies in the trade sector. There were 44,739 new posts, highlighting the areas of hyper and supermarkets (13,761 vacancies).
Temporary labor lease, human health and social services, as well as hospital care and the transport division were the highlights in the field of services.
Negative December
If in the 2024 set the numbers were positive, the favorable scenario was not repeated last December. With a negative result, it was the worst December of the last five years.
There was a retraction of 13,112 formal jobs in trade. In the area of services, 108.1 thousand jobs were extinguished in the state of São Paulo.
