Three civil police officers who fired shots at Cracolândia, in the center of São Paulo, last Thursday (12), were identified. At the time, a 32-year-old man was hit in the chest by a bullet and died. According to the São Paulo Secretariat of Public Security (SSP), the police voluntarily showed up yesterday (13).
The case is being investigated by the State Department of Homicide and Protection of Persons (DHPP). “The expertise will investigate whether the shot that caused the man’s death came from the gun of one of these police officers and the circumstances of the event. The General Corregedoria of the Civil Police of São Paulo is also monitoring the investigations,” the SSP said in a statement.
The man was shot dead on Avenida Rio Branco, near Praça Princesa Isabel, where homeless people and drug addicts were concentrated. The day before the death, in the early hours of Wednesday (11), agents of the Metropolitan Civil Guard, city officials, civil and military police launched an operation against drug trafficking in the same square.
The operation had the participation of 200 civil police officers, 300 military police officers and 150 civil-metropolitan guards.
