The Civil Police of São Paulo launched, on the morning of this Tuesday (4), the final phase of the Operation Mobile Strike against a criminal organization specialized in receiving stolen and stolen cell phones. 28 search and seizure warrants and five temporary arrest warrants are being executed in cities in Greater São Paulo.
According to the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), investigations revealed that the group maintained a hierarchical and well-defined structure, with division of functions between members. There were those responsible for stealing the devices, intermediaries and resellers who supplied the clandestine trade, including shipments abroad. The estimate is that the group moved 20 to 30 cell phones per day.
Suspects detained
Around 110 civil police officers participate in the operation. All seized material and detained suspects are being sent to the headquarters of the State Department of Criminal Investigations (DEIC).
“Based on three months of investigation and the use of monitoring and data crossing technologies, the Civil Police were able to accurately map the functioning of the group and identify its main members,” the SSP said in a statement. She highlights that the operation was planned to reach the group’s financial and logistical core, in order to weaken the structures that support the illegal trade in devices.
