SP: disabled driver can request exemption from IPVA

Owners of vehicles in the state of São Paulo with a long-term disability or autistic people can now apply for exemption from the Tax on Motor Vehicle Property (IPVA). According to the São Paulo Department of Finance and Planning, the Vehicle System (Sivei) is already enabled to receive these IPVA exemption requests.SP: disabled driver can request exemption from IPVASP: disabled driver can request exemption from IPVA

People with long-term physical, mental, intellectual, sensory and autistic disabilities can apply for the exemption.

The request must be made until the 31st of July in the Sivei website . The owner must present all the documentation required by law.

If the request is granted, the 2022 IPVA exemption will be guaranteed. Otherwise, the tax will be released and the vehicle owner will have 30 days to pay the tax, without penalty or interest.

The secretariat informed that, while the process is not analyzed, the IPVA 2022 remains suspended for those who made the requests. The secretariat also warns that vehicles with a market value for the IPVA 2022 between R$ 70 thousand and R$ 100 thousand need to pay the tax on the value that exceeds R$ 70 thousand.
