The City Council of São Paulo approved on Wednesday (23), in the first vote, the proposal for salary increase of 2.6% of municipal servants from this year and 2.55% in 2026. The proposal, presented by the city, had 31 votes favorable and 15 opposition, based and opposition voting in block.
The text will also undergo a second vote, scheduled for next Tuesday (29), before going to the sanction of Mayor Ricardo Nunes.
The proposal is rejected by the servers, and motivated strike from municipal teachersstarted on the 15th.
At today’s session, the councilors discussed amendments, such as the increase in the meal vouchers and the anticipation of the salary readjustment from May 2026 to November this year, but both were rejected. The house also considers to present changes to the project, in negotiation with the executive.
Strike
Education professionals decreed strike last week, after rejecting the municipal government proposal for an annual readjustment of 2.6%, from May 1, 2025, and 2.55%, from May 1, 2026.
The category and other servers claim wages above accumulated annual inflation.
Municipal servants have a meeting scheduled for the 29th, when they will evaluate the continuity or not of the movement.
