Real estate borrowers from the São Paulo State Housing and Urban Development Company (CDHU) will be able to settle their debts with the São Paulo government through a program launched today (23) that provides easier conditions for zero interest agreements, without down payment installments.
According to the government, families whose contracts have been terminated will be able to choose to settle the debt with CDHU in cash, without incurring interest and fines, or to repay the residual balance of the contract. The other borrowers will be entitled to pay the debt in installments with no down payment and interest and with installments starting at R$ 60, added to the monthly installment. The government also informed that other situations of default will be evaluated by CDHU.
Currently, there are 75,000 non-performing contracts in the state of São Paulo. Of this total, 16,000 are already the target of Justice and 3,000 already have repossession warrants against them.
“The default rate was 19% at the beginning of the pandemic [do novo coronavírus], reaching 26% default rate today. Sensitized by this, in the exceptionality of the pandemic, we are announcing an unprecedented program to facilitate, renegotiate or renegotiate with families, suspending all repossessions and giving these families the opportunity to seek renegotiation under unique conditions ”, said Flavio Amary, State Housing Secretary.
