President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva again criticized foreign interference in domestic affairs, on Wednesday (13), in Brasilia. When signing Exporting Support Measures impacted by Increased US tariffsthe president stated that Brazilian sovereignty is untouchable.
“The only thing we need to demand is that our sovereignty is untouchable. No one will guess the things we have to do,” Lula said. “We will try to do whatever we can to minimize the problem that was caused to us,” he added.
During the eventthe president also said that he will continue to try to negotiate with the Americans. “We will continue to stubborn in negotiation. Because we like to negotiate. And we don’t want conflict. I don’t want conflict with either Uruguay, nor with Venezuela, the more with the United States.”
New Markets
In his speech, he also highlighted Brazil’s opening to new markets. “The truth is that it is not possible to imagine that the government will replace our business partners. We will have to look for other partners. For my part, I am a seller of anything,” he said when commenting on a call made to China President Xi Jinping.
“We will continue to sell things in Brazil. If the United States do not want to buy, we will look for another country,” he said.
According to Lula, about 500 Brazilian businessmen will meet in India in January to discuss new businesses, especially in the drug market.
“Instead of crying here what we lost, we will try to win elsewhere. The world is big and is eager to negotiate with Brazil. Everyone knows that we are good, that we do not fight with anyone, that we do concessions. But we did not deserve it. And what is serious is that it was not only with us.
