VALVERDE. The Dominican ambassador to the United States, Sonia Guzmán, described as positive the beginning of the construction of a plant processor for the treatment of solid waste that will allow the production of 24 million gallons of Dominican diesel per year, in charge of the company Ridge Partners Línea Noroeste SA (RPLN), in the municipal district of Jaibón, municipality of Laguna Salada, Valverde province.
Guzmán highlighted that this US capital company will invest more than 300 million dollars in this project that will generate more than 220 direct jobs and dozens of indirect ones; It will also deliver 10 dollar cents for each gallon of diesel produced to 25 municipalities in the provinces of Valverde, Montecristi and Santiago Rodríguez, which will benefit local authorities and residents of the area with jobs and efficient environmental management.
» The team of the Dominican Embassy in the United States is satisfied with the beginning of the construction of this treatment plant by businessman Tom Kluber, to whom we facilitated the procedures for its installation in the country, since part of our responsibility is to attract US investors to the Dominican Republic.
The diplomat stressed that the construction of this processing plant will mark a milestone in the management of solid waste in our country, since it will convert the garbage generated in the aforementioned provinces into optimal diesel.
Participating in the opening ceremony were Tom Kluber, president of the US capital company; the administrative minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza; the provincial governor, Daisy Aquino; Senator Eddy Nolasco; the district manager of Jaibón, Ricky Tejada; the executive of the company, Julien Dalvin and one of the managers of the project, Milanés Vásquez.
Julien Dalbin, when reading the speech on behalf of Tom Kluber, said that it intends to process more than 1,000 tons of solid waste every day, coming from 25 communities of the Northwest Line and hopes that this initiative will be an example of environmental stewardship.
Dalbin indicated that this project was made possible thanks to the support of President Luis Abinader with the approval of the Solid Waste Law; to the advice of the Dominican Embassy in the United States and to the support of other authorities.
Other plants nationwide
The executive of Ridge Partners Línea Noroeste SA (RPLN) considers that with nine processing plants that are built nationwide, more than 80 percent of the garbage that is produced would be eliminated, which in turn could be converted into diesel. He also thanked the three subcontractors for their support.
DProcess details
RPLN’s Jaibón project will process MSW, removing unwanted and recyclable materials from the waste stream and converting the waste into pellets.
These inert, odorless dry pellets are converted, through a process called pyrolysis, into ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel. The plant uses American and European technologies that are already proven and operational elsewhere. Construction will take approximately 18 months.
