Diego Raúl Sierralta, son of oncology patient Yenny Barrios, detained after the protests of July 29 and 30, said that he and his family are waiting for his mother’s release from prison. He stated that the ballot has not arrived even though his case was a priority because it was a health issue.
Diego Raúl Sierralta, son of Yenny Barrios, an oncology patient who was arrested on September 7, in the midst of political tensions over the presidential elections and protests over dissatisfaction with the results of those elections, asked the authorities to release his mother, who on December 2 must undergo the second chemotherapy treatment.
Sierralta pointed out that Barrios has already suffered from hair loss, dizziness and headaches from the first treatment. He warned that these side effects may worsen once you undergo the second round of chemotherapy.
«You can’t have that treatment there. There are neither the trained people nor the conditions to care for them,” he emphasized.
He commented that he and his relatives are still waiting for the release ticket, which has not arrived despite the fact that Barrios’ case was made a priority. «We need those ballots to arrive quickly. “My mother needs to be at home with the attention she needs and deserves,” he added.
On November 3, Sierralta asked the authorities to intercede so that her mother receives urgent medical attention. He warned that he is dying and they have not given him adequate care.
Sierralta made the call in a video published on social networks. He explained that the most recent report from the medical examiner indicated that Barrios should be hospitalized. Despite the above, he stated that his mother remains in the Pato e Palo detention center of the PNB in the state of Lara.
«When the forensic medicine was asked to evaluate her, it was not that I only saw her, but that she could not stay there, in Caracas there is no report that corroborates my mother’s condition, which shows that she urgently needs to be hospitalized. », mentioned Sierralta.
Barrios suffers from large cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and was detained in Carora, Lara state by Venezuelan security officials.
