Harold Baltodano Cruz, son of the deceased mayor of Diriamba, Fernando Baltodano, will participate in the municipal elections next November by the Sandinista National Liberation Front Party (…), according to information in the possession of the newspaper La Prensa.
According to what is read on the Facebook page of the Diriamba commune, Baltodano Cruz is general secretary of the Diriambina Mayor’s Office, however, before having this position he was mayor of the municipal market.

At the head of the Mayor’s Office of Diriamba is currently the Sandinista councilor Mayling Figueroa, who went from occupying the position of deputy mayor, leaving the mayor vacant.
In a publication published on Friday, September 2, by the commune on its Facebook portal, the son of the deceased mayor was seen together with Figueroa in what they called the Institutional Technical Council with Directors and Area Heads of the Mayor’s Office. «With the objective that each director and area manager announces the progress from January to date, as well as the work plans for the next week».
Sources revealed to the newspaper La Prensa that the position of mayor will remain vacant until the municipal elections, where Harold Baltodano Cruz will have Mayling Figueroa as his running mate, current deputy mayor due to the imposition of the Ortega regime.
Fernando Baltodano’s eldest son is an engineer by profession; he also owns a restaurant, located at the entrance of Diriamba. Everything indicates that Ortega will impose in the Mayor’s Office the son of the mayor who died on August 22, whose death is questioned by citizens.
Supposedly mayor committed suicide
Unofficially it became known that the Sandinista mayor had committed suicide with a shot to the head. His vehicle was found in a mountainous area located between the Diriamba-La Boquita highway.
Officials from the Mayor’s Office commented anonymously to La Prensa that last week the mayor’s office was intervened by the Nicaraguan Institute for Municipal Development (Inifom) “due to a problem with some checks.”

The last time the Sandinista mayor was seen publicly was on August 17 when he handed over a piece of land where five houses from the Bismarck Martínez program will begin to be built.
For her part, the spokeswoman for the Nicaraguan regime, Rosario Murillo, assured that the mayor of Diriamba made the decision to take his own life because of the depression “that had been afflicting him.”
“Yesterday (August 22) he made a tragic and painful decision for all of them (Baltodano’s family) and also for the Diriamba families who have counted on his work all these years,” Murillo lamented, in his speech to official media.
Who was the mayor of Diriamba?
According to information compiled by the independent Urnas Abiertas observatory, Fernando Baltodano was a departmental deputy for the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) in Carazo, in the period 2012-2017. The board of directors of the National Assembly granted him permission to exercise the Mayor’s Office of Diriamba, even though he was a deputy. He was elected mayor in 2013, since that date he has held the position consecutively.
