Some 600 students will have access to their first work experience in public organizations from March 2023

Authorities of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (MTSS) raffled, this Monday 7, the quotas of the Yo Estudio y Trabajo program that will enable 602 students between 16 and 20 years of age from all over the country to access their first work experience in State agencies . The draw included quotas for gender, social vulnerability, disability, trans people and Afro-descendants, as established by the regulations.

The draw was held in the Erro room of the MTSS, through the computer system, with the presence of the National Director of Employment, Daniel Pérez.

The hierarch explained that in this edition 27,848 young people were registered for the 602 places available in 37 state agencies, which are distributed in 49 locations. He added that the resulting priority list will be published on the MTSS web portal on Tuesday, November 8.

He pointed out that the draw contemplated the fulfillment of quotas, as established by the current norm, and, in some cases, the percentages were even increased. In relation to the gender quota, it was established that 50% of those selected were women. Also that 13.5% corresponded to young people in a situation of vulnerability who integrate programs of the Ministry of Social Development (Mides), 4% to people with disabilities and 2% to trans youth.

He added that between November 14 and 18, the people who benefited will be asked for the documentation required to access the scholarship: proof of being enrolled in a formal or non-formal education center authorized by the Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC ), a fundamental condition to access the benefit.

In addition, he said that between the months of January and February 2023, orientation workshops will be held for scholarship holders and that admissions to the different public bodies will begin in March, with a minimum stay of 9 months and a maximum of 12.

He indicated that interns will be able to access the course on digital skills for employment taught by the National Institute of Employment and Vocational Training (Inefop), which has been completed, to date, by more than 8,000 workers. He added that some innovations were introduced, such as the young participants being able to certify their skills. In the 10th edition, 472 boys did it, in teamwork, results orientation and ability to adapt to change.

The remuneration they will receive will be 4 monthly benefit and contribution bases (BPC) for 30 hours of work per week; in case of working 20 hours, the remuneration will be proportional. Young women who are pregnant or have dependent children under the age of 4 will receive 6 BPC per month, Pérez said.
