A total of 553 reports for anomalies in different economic agents were drawn up by the Authority for Consumer Protection and Defense of Competition (Acodeco) during the Christmas operation carried out throughout December.
In this operation, supermarkets, supermarkets, warehouses, hardware stores, toy stores, among others, were verified to monitor compliance with consumer protection regulations.
The Acodeco details that the main anomalies detected were: 378 violations of Law 45 of 2007, consumer protection, 80 due to the veracity of advertising, 41 non-compliance with discounts for retirees, pensioners and the elderly (Law 6 of 1986), 21 anomalies of Executive Decree 165 of 2014 (price control), and 33 by Executive Decree 114 of 2020 (marketing margins of products most used in the pandemic).
On the other hand, 1,350 assistances were made to consumers in the service modules that were installed in the main shopping centers.
Also, Acodeco staff provided 434 consultancies to economic agents; 74 complaints were received, of which 32 were resolved immediately for a total amount of B /. 4,736.04; 20 cash returns were achieved for a total of B /. 2,354.12; 58 complaints from different buyers were dealt with; 10,182 informational materials with consumer issues were delivered and 20 social communication media from all over the country were served.
This operation was classified as successful by the administrator of Acodeco, Jorge Quintero.
“We have dedicated ourselves to the education of economic agents arduously, in all the important shopping centers we gave training on what they should do and how to improve the consumption relationship … we carried out three operations, two at the beginning of Black Friday and one for Christmas, and the goal was to inform and protect consumers through on-site conciliation, “he said.
