A total of 30 companies were interested in the construction of the new National Oncology Institute (ION), which is in tender with a reference price of $434.8 million.
This week, the Ministry of Health (Minsa) held the homologation meeting, as part of the public act, in which companies such as China Civil Engineering, OHLA Progress Enablers, RM Engineering, Prodemex, Acciona Construction and China Harbor Engineering participated.
During the homologation and through the Panama Compra portal, several of the companies asked the Minsa to extend the presentation of the proposals to 90 days, taking into account the complexity of the health project.
This public act includes studies, designs, development of plans, construction of civil works, maintenance and financing.
The date for submitting proposals was set for April 28.
For Carlos Candanedo, national director of Infrastructure of the Minsa, it is “good” that a large number of companies showed interest in this public act.
On the request of the companies to have more time to deliver their offers, Candanedo stressed that any changes will be informed at the time.
“It is clear that there is a date for the presentation of proposals, which can be maintained or changed if the management unit considers it so, but for now we stick with the established date. Right now, we are reviewing the questions sent by the companies”, he pointed out.
According to Roger Barés, president of the Association of Patients and Relatives, this hospital project must be developed with patients in mind and choosing the best qualified company.
