Some 26 people have overcome the Hantavirus disease in the country

The bulletin provided by the Department of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health (Minsa) reports that so far in 2022, 52 cases of Hantavirus have been registered, of which 29 cases have been classified as Hantavirus Cardiopulmonary Syndrome and 23 of Hantavirus fever.

Of these 29 confirmed cases, 26 overcame the disease and three deaths were recorded, all due to Hantavirus Cardiopulmonary Syndrome.

The report stressed that the cases of Hantavirus Cardiopulmonary Syndrome, the province of Los Santos has the highest rate of cases with 16 confirmed cases; They are followed by the Coclé Health regions with six (6) confirmed cases; Herrera with four (4) cases; Veraguas with two (2) and Panama Oeste with one (1) confirmed case.

The 23 registered cases with Hantavirus Fever have overcome the disease.

Malaria

Malaria cases have been confirmed, to date, 6 thousand 087 cases, being the Guna Yala region with 2 thousand 458 cases; Darien with 1,172; East Panama with 1,062 cases; Ngäbe Buglé region 936 and North Panama 128 cases are the Health regions, where more cases have been confirmed so far this year.

Leishmaniasis
As highlighted in the epidemiological report, 1,239 cases of Leishmaniasis have been confirmed, being the regions of Bocas del Toro with 254 cases; West Panama with 189 cases; the Ngäbe Buglé region with 165 cases; Colón 140 cases and Coclé, with 108 cases.

Zika and Chikungunya
Regarding the cases of Zika, the epidemiological report highlights that there are four (4) cases registered so far this year, with three (3) alive and (1) death that occurred in Veraguas; Guna Yala with one (1) and Chiriquí with two (2) confirmed cases, are the two regions with registered cases.

And the confirmed cases with Chikungunya are six (6) confirmed cases, one (1) in the metropolitan region and one (1) in Chiriquí; one (1) in West Panama; one (1) in Herrera. And there are two (2) in North Panama.

The Ministry of Health urges the population to clean their residences and surroundings to combat the breeding sites of disease-transmitting mosquitoes; Likewise, it reiterates to cover the containers with water and keep in mind that the nebulization only kills the adult mosquito.
