The solidarity wages program will be implemented again from May of this year. The mayor of Flores and current president of the Congress of Mayors, Fernando Echeverría, assured this Tuesday that there will be a “third phase”whose implementation details will be defined soon.
“Then it will depend on the evaluation made by each of the municipalities and there we will sit down again with the Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of Economy. The unemployment rates in each department will be considered,” Echeverría explained to the Montevideo Portal. The hierarch met on this day with the deputy director of the Planning and Budget Office, Benjamín Irazabal,
The last extension of the program had materialized in October of last year, after a request made by the Congress of Mayors. The measure implied a cost of $250 million, of which 75% was covered with contributions from the national government and the remaining 25% from the departmental governments.
As reported by Underlined last month, When the extension of the second edition was resolved, a dialogue table was created between the national government and the municipalities, to define the third edition. In that instance, the possibility was discussed that the 2023 edition of the Job Opportunity program would be from May to November.
