In Norte de Santander, a millionaire robbery occurred at the headquarters of the Banco Agrario in the municipality of Convención. The criminals managed to turn off the electricity, disconnect the security cameras and flee with more than $2 billion.
(Solidary income: who will receive the $500,000 subsidy?).
The robbery happened one street away from the main park and the Convención city hall, and five blocks from the Police station.
The first workers who arrived at the entity to start the working day realized what had happened and informed the authorities. However, the theft was already done and more than $2 billion disappeared.
It is presumed that the bandits would have taken advantage of the fact that the streets were empty due to a heavy downpour that fell on the town. It is unknown if inside the headquarters there were surveillance personnel.
(They adjust extra payment of Solidarity Income, Families and Youth in Action).
This large sum of money was intended to pay the fees of teachers and public officials who work in Catatumbo. In addition, it was known that the payment of social programs of the National Government such as families and youth in action and solidarity income will also have to be rescheduled.
Colonel John Robert Chavarro, commander of the Norte de Santander Police (Denor), affirmed that a special intelligence and criminal investigation group is advancing in the identification of those responsible for the theft.
(More actions to reduce poverty, the request of experts to the Government).
Officials of the bank and a group of the Judicial Police are advancing in the collection of information, and they carry out an inventory that allows establishing the total amount extracted by the criminals. Even the stolen loot could amount to $3 billion.
