On the second day of the Ninth Convention of the Mexican Association of Sofipos (AMS), it was highlighted that regulatory facilities allowed them to open accounts digitally.
Porras stressed that the app boom has set a standard for the service that customers are looking for: “The consumer who uses Amazon or Netflix expects the same immediacy, clarity and simplicity in their financial services as well. This demand already exists and of course there will be a technological transformation that will not be easy.”
However, technology cannot do everything. Porras said that a “phygital” scheme is necessary, that is, with a little infrastructure, service is provided to clients so that they can trust the institutions.
The Sofipo association has highlighted the need to use technology to remain relevant among consumers while generating competition between institutions.
Porras added that financial institutions must take care not to lose the trust of users and ruled out the need for Sofipos to be completely digital.
“As long as you can put your money in a Sofipo and continue to have good results, others will continue to trust that sector, especially now, when there are still 40% of Mexicans who do not have an account,” he said.
