The PCB candidate for the Presidency of the Republic, Sofia Manzano, proposed today (29) to fight hunger in the country using the resources currently allocated to the payment of interest on the public debt. According to the candidate, this value is about R$ 1.9 trillion. Manzano also defends creating taxes on profits and luxury goods.
“We are going to be elected president of the republic and we are going to take this money that is being used to pay interest on the public debt and we are going to spend it on totally modifying the country’s structures, including increasing the family allowance, but not only increasing it, changing the program configuration”, said the candidate in live.
Sofia Manzano also proposed the creation of an income distribution program and taxation of large fortunes. “The most important thing for us to end hunger and misery is to promote a structural program of income distribution in Brazil, taxing the great fortunes, taxing dividends, profits, and luxury goods. Luxury cars, jets, yachts,” she added.
The candidate campaigned today in Rio de Janeiro.
