Sodre will provide musical education to children and young people linked to INAU

Within the framework of the One Child, One Instrument program, the Institute for Children and Adolescents of Uruguay (INAU) and the Official Service for Dissemination, Performances and Shows (Sodre) signed an agreement that will allow users of the organization to receive musical education and access to cultural property. The plan will be implemented in 13 departments of the country and will cover more than 1,000 children and young people.

With the presence of the head of the INAU, Pablo Abdala; the vice president of the institution, Aldo Velázquez; his peer from Sodre, Claudio Aguilar; the counselor Diego Silveira Rega and the director of the Youth Orchestra, Ariel Britos, signed an agreement between the two organizations on Monday, October 3, which consolidated the joint work.

The agreement reaffirms the entities as strategic partners to continue developing the One Child, One Instrument program in the country. It is a national initiative that enables the training of children and adolescents from the access and democratization of culture through musical learning and orchestral and choral practice.

Abdala indicated that the agreement entails a cooperative effort between both agencies with the aim that children and young people can develop their musical abilities and talents.

In this stage, the project will be implemented in 13 departments and then the entire territory will be covered. It is expected to cover more than 1,000 children and young people. INAU’s investment will be 550,000 pesos per month, to finance trips, the presence of educators and musicians, and access to instruments.

Velázquez, meanwhile, highlighted the social impact of the agreement and explained that the beneficiaries will be able to visit the auditorium facilities, participate in workshops and guided tours, and attend shows. In addition, teachers from the Sodre Youth Orchestra will teach them to play different instruments.

The activity ended with a performance by the Ciudad Vieja Musical Kindergarten and the Children’s Orchestra of the metropolitan area of ​​the One Child, One Instrument program.
