Sodre and the National Energy Directorate (DNE) agreed to jointly implement energy efficiency actions at the agency’s facilities. The DNE, through the Uruguayan Savings and Energy Efficiency Trust, will provide advice and financing for up to 600,000 pesos to purchase efficient equipment. A work team will be formed to identify opportunities for improvement.
The agreement was signed in the Sodre central auditorium, this Tuesday the 31st. The head of the Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC), Pablo da Silveira; his counterpart from Industry, Energy and Mining (MIEM), Omar Paganini; the undersecretary of that portfolio, Walter Verri; the national director of Energy, Fitzgerald Cantero; the president of Sodre, Adela Dubra; the vice president of that institution, Claudio Aguilar, and the counselor Diego Silveira.
The agreement also provides for actions to promote electric mobility in Sodre and the development of energy assessments, in order to advise on design alternatives and carry out training activities for officials.
Da Silveira highlighted the relevance of implementing energy efficiency actions in that body. In the first place, because it is an entity that consumes a large amount of energy, since the auditoriums and schools where dancers and musicians are trained are there. In addition, for its visibility and symbolic value for the country. He added that the MEC implements energy efficiency actions at its headquarters, in the Notary Building and in the offices of the National Directorate of Culture.
Dubra, meanwhile, indicated that Sodre is already working with the advice of MIEM. In this regard, he pointed out that in 2022 some 5,000 high-consumption luminaires were replaced with efficient ones. The replacement was completed in the Eduardo Fabini room, the largest in the country, and it is planned to provide more lighting to the upper gallery. The lighting in the hall and the exterior façade of the auditorium will also be replaced, he asserted.
For his part, Paganini recalled that one of the objectives of the portfolio he directs is to promote the use of energy in the most efficient way, taking advantage of new technologies and identifying opportunities for improvement. In this sense, he seeks to accompany different institutions in their renewal process.
Cantero said that “it is important that such fundamental institutions in the life of the country, such as Sodre, can begin to have a joint work, which allows showing that energy efficiency can be in small aspects and have many benefits.”
