Society of Engineers determines to support the highway in the Güendá Urubó area, but complying with the environmental conditions

The technical table carried out by the Society of Engineers of Bolivia (SIB) concluded this Wednesday and decided to support the construction of the highway in the Guendá Urubó area that will join Porongo, Tres Cruces and Buena Vista, but complying with environmental conditions whatestablished by Departmental Law 208.

“The SIB fully supports the construction of the highway, as long as environmental regulations are complied with. We are still in the preparation of the final suggestions of the technical tableabecause this is a very complex issue and we hope to publish all the results tomorrow (Thursday), ”said Jorge Franco, president of the SIB, in telephone contact with EL DEBER.

Franco explained that in the meetings four alternative routes were presented for the highway that will join Porongo, Tres Cruces and Buena Vista, however, none were defined because first soil studies must be done to analyze them. In addition, he lamented the absence of the representatives of the Bolivian Highway Administration (ABC), who had to present the project to build this route.

“Among the conclusions we can anticipate that the road does not pollute aquifers, but the settlements do, so this situation must be controlled. In addition to that, we do not agree that Law 208 be repealed, but that it could be analyzed to modify some details, ”he detailed.

He also indicated that after making all the suggestions known this Thursday, Permanent technical commissions will continue to carry out other studies in the Guendá Urubó area, which has the residents of Porongo, Buena Vista and Tres Cruces waiting.

It was the Consultative Council made up of ex-presidents of the SIB that agreed on the conclusions of the technical table, which was attended by engineers from the Gabriel René Moreno Autonomous University (Uagrm), from the Private University of Santa Cruz de la Sierra (UPSA), the Bolivian Association of Sanitary Engineering, the Government of Santa Cruz and various specialization colleges and trained technicians.
