The Socialist Party (PS) ratified its position of presenting a single list for the election of constitutional councilors on May 7.
The information was released after holding a central committee during the day this Saturday. Through a statement, the party reported the decision to go on a unitary list of the ruling party.
“The decision to go on a unitary list is fundamentally explained by the need to face the growth of the right and the conservative forces,” they expressed from the PS.
“Unidad is a matter of the present, but it is above all a matter of the future. Not only for this election, not only to support and back the government that promotes reforms in favor of our people; but to project into the future a transformative political force that requires Chile and that implies projecting unity also for the next political challenges. We have to go together from the DC to the PC,” they added.
After the assembly, it was announced that if the alliance is possible, former President Michelle Bachelet will lead an eventual single list of the forces of the ruling party before the constituent process. However, the Party for Democracy (PPD), after holding its General Council, 94% of its members supported the idea of going with a separate list to Approve Dignity.

In this sense, from the PS, they maintained: “We will fight for the single list; let’s not forget that the adversary is in front and it is the right and the populist groups.”
“To define the steps that make unity possible, we trust in our internal democracy and in the party organs and that it is the Political Commission that discusses and determines the candidacies and make viable the best conditions of the Unit for the election of constitutional advisers”, they expressed.
