Social services represented 44.8% (RD $ 54,527.1 million) of the total expenses in August, with an increase of 7.9% (RD $ 4,64.6 million) in relation to the same period of 2024, according to the budget execution report corresponding to that month of the General Directorate of Budget (Digepres).
Points out that Social expense was largely allocated to the education function, with RD $ 28,160 million, for an increase of 10.6% (RD $ 2,692.3 million) compared to the same period of the previous year.
In detail, educational spending according to the functional classifier is distributed mainly in primary education subfunctions with RD $ 10,125.5 million; Planning, management and supervision of education with RD $ 8,814.6 million; Secondary education with RD $ 2,924.3 million; Initial education with RD $ 2,523.4; Higher education with RD $ 2,204.3 million, among others.
It indicates that the expenditure in the health function was assigned RD $ 11,839.6 million, which represents an increase of 11.3% (RD $ 1,202.6 million) in relation to August 2024.

This expense is mainly distributed in health planning, management and supervision with RD $ 9,626.5 million; Hospital services with RD $ 1,139.1 million and public health services and health prevention with RD $ 1,045.1 million, among others.
Regarding the social protection function, this reached RD $ 11,762.9 million, which represents a reduction of 5.6% (RD $ 704.1 million) in relation to the same period of 2024.
Within this function, the most important components are elderly, pensions with RD $ 6,839.4 million; Social assistance with RD $ 4,532.4 million; Social housing with RD $ 181.7 million; Youth with RD $ 103.8 million; Planning, management and supervision of social protection with RD $ 81.5 million, among others.
Likewise, the Housing and Community Services function registered an expense accrued of RD $ 1,797.5 million, for an increase of 50.8% (RD $ 605.2 million) with respect to the accrual in the same period of 2024.
Subfunctions of this category include: drinking water supply with RD $ 1,648.9 million; Urbanization and community services with RD $ 116.3 million, and community development with RD $ 32.3 million.
According to the Digepres report, the function of sports, recreational, cultural and religious activities accrued an amount of RD $ 930.1 million, which reflects a growth of 34.9% (RD $ 240.4 million). Cultural services with RD $ 351.2 million stand out in this function; Planning, management and supervision of sports, recreational, cultural and religious activities with RD $ 244.5 million; High performance sports with RD $ 222.3 million; recreational and sports services with RD $ 83millones; Religious services and other religious community services with RD $ 29.0 million.
The rest of social services spending was allocated to the gender equity function with an expense of RD $ 37 million, equivalent to a decrease of 46.2% (RD $ 31.8 million).
The most important items are: Focused actions in women RD $ 16.8 million; Actions for a culture of gender equality for RD $ 9.3 million; prevention, attention and protection actions of gender violence with RD $ 7 million; Social and public co -responsibility in family care and the reproduction of the workforce RD $ 3.9 million.
