Social Security: Cabildo Abierto delivered its proposals to President Luis Lacalle Pou

The party leader presented the president with a dozen points where the political community considers that work should be done to make changes and/or improvements, with a view to submitting the document to Parliament. If the Executive Power does not analyze and take into consideration several of the proposals, the Cabildo would still accompany with its approval of the preliminary bill promoted by both the government itself and President Luis Lacalle Pou.

Upon leaving the residence, and in a brief dialogue with the media, Manini Ríos said that in the meeting with the head of state, he gave him “a dozen points that we understand are necessary to improve in the draft law of social security reform. Cabildo Abierto is going to support the social security reform but wants these points to be considered.

Asked by the press about the points proposed to the president, the senator replied that “our technical team is going to meet with the team that is drafting the project. I don’t want to get ahead of myself yet about it, ”he said. Manini Ríos also expressed that “they are going to be in ongoing conversations” with Dr. Rodolfo Saldain, the main editor and head of the expert commission that worked on the preparation of the document. Regarding the meeting, neither President Lacalle Pou nor other representatives of the Presidency spoke about it.
