The Colorado Party (PC) declined the Government’s invitation to participate in the social dialogue that the Executive Power will launch this Wednesday, due to the “format” of participation that includes eight representatives of the political parties at a table composed of 22 delegations. This was explained by PC deputy Felipe Schipani at a press conference.
“We are willing to participate in all the instances of dialogue that are generated, what we point out is that in the format of dialogue in which the government is inviting us we are not willing to participate because somehow the presence of the political parties is marginalized,” said the Colorado legislator. For Schipani, the “representation” of the parties must have “more incidence.”
The Colorado deputy indicated at the conference that this issue was presented at the meeting with the Government delegates who presented the “road map” of the Social Dialogue, Hugo Bai and Nicolás Lasa, who indicated that this aspect was already “laudado”.
After the Schipani conference, the Senator of the PC Andrés Ojeda posted in his social network X account: “The PC will not participate in the social dialogue convened by the Government in the terms in which the Government raises them. We are always open to dialogue but we understand a specific instance with political parties.”
After these statements, Senator Pedro Bordaberry (PC) held at a press conference that he did not participate or consulted him on the determination of the PC executive. “Perhaps what needs to be done is not to oppose the dialogue but to tell you ‘do you social dialogue you and we the political dialogue'”, with the aim of “not close the doors” to the negotiation. “What does not seem to me is to say ‘no dialogue’; I do not dialogue in these circumstances, yes dialogue in these others,” said the senator.
“They told me that it is because the representation was not balanced, with the majority of representatives of the Frente Amplio,” said Bordaberry about the foundation of the measure. “I think you can not close to dialogue, we should never achieve a political dialogue and for those issues we are always open,” he defined.
The president of the Board of Directors of the National Party, Álvaro Delgado, headed another press conference in which he also rejected the participation of the whites “in the format in which he is proposed.” He added that his party is willing to dialogue with the rest of the political forces and with the authorities “to seek if you can transcend a period of government.”
“To have a sub -presentation or equivalence with another number of institutions, with the Executive Power and other types of organizations, and also, in the proportion that is established, we do not seem adequate way of raising a dialogue of these important characteristics,” said Delgado.
The president of Cabildo Open (CA), Guido Manini Ríos, confirmed through a post in his X account that the party will integrate the Executive Committee of the Social Dialogue that the Government convened. The decision was communicated hours after the national and Colorado parties reject their participation for criticism of the “format” chosen for discussion.
For CA, this is “an opportunity to raise our vision in some of the problems that most affect people.” In addition, he clarified that “this does not compromise future support or votes in Parliament.”
“We were always open to dialogue,” said Manini Ríos. “In these years we have always received representatives from all political sectors and social organizations. Why not now? If we can contribute something to improve the situation of the most fragile, beyond whether we are heard or not heard, this is an opportunity,” defined the leader of this political group.
For his part, the deputy of Ca Álvaro Perrone also expressed himself in the same social network: “We spent the whole campaign saying that we had to dialogue, Cabildo continues to act with coherence, it is not good to refuse political discussions, well.”
