The Ministry of Social Development confirmed the compatibility between the Progresar scholarships and the Empower Work program.
The portfolio headed by Juan Zabaleta announced it through a resolution that establishes that “the perception of the incentive granted to the target population” of Progresar “is compatible with the entry and permanence of the same as holders” in the Power Work.
The decision also includes those who receive the Complementary Social Salary, and applies retroactively from August 1, 2022.
The measure will be published in the Official Gazette between this Friday and Monday, official sources from the ministry reported.
The national deputy of the Frente de Todos and referent of the Frente Patria Grande, Natalia Zaracho, celebrated the news through her social networks and called to continue “defending the rights of the working people.”
“After complaining about the discharges from the Empowerment, this good news arrives: Compatibility between Progresar and Empower Work scholarships. Those who work in productive units will be able to study with the support of the State. Let’s continue to defend the rights of the working people,” Zaracho wrote in his account from Twitter.
Referents from different social movements had denounced in recent days the incompatibility of the Progresar and Enhance Work programs.
“The Empower Work program and the Progresar scholarships do not have to be incompatible. The announced cut harms 40,000 young people. We demand that the Ministry of Social Development of the Nation reverse this decision,” the founder of the Piquetera Unit had written and national deputy Juan Marino on his Twitter.
In this sense, the ministerial resolution states that “within the framework of the reordering and continuous improvement process” of Enhance Work, “the need to clarify the compatibility of both programs was observed”, given that Progresar is “aimed at promoting the completion studies”, while the Work Empowerment is aimed at “contributing to the improvement of employability and the generation of new productive proposals”.
“That on this basis, and understanding that accompanying young people in vulnerable situations to complete their formal studies is a commitment assumed by the National State as a whole,” the statement added.
