So far this year there have been 229 premeditated homicides

From July 1 to 24, there were 37 intentional homicides, of which 23 had a police record, that is, 65%, said security minister Juan Manuel Pino.

He explained that 88% of these events occurred with firearms, 10% with a knife and 2% with a blunt object.

Of the last 11 homicides, reported in the last 72 hours, seven of the victims had criminal records: Colón 2, La Chorrera 4, Chepo 1. In addition to a crime with passion motive registered in West Panama, where a woman took the life of a his sentimental partner, after inflicting multiple wounds on him with a sharp weapon.

Three of the deceased did not keep police records, but the mobile remains under investigation.

The minister pointed out that, from January to date, there have been 229 homicides with premeditation and the intention to cause damage (fraud). As of July 24 of this year, the statistics reflect a decrease of 53 cases, compared to the same period in 2021.

He stressed that for this year, 268 arrests of citizens related to homicide cases have been reported, of which 127 are involved in bloody acts perpetrated this year.

Pino mentioned that despite the public order situation that the country is going through, the actions and operations have not diminished with more than 130 operations within the framework of security strategies, developed in coordination with the Public Ministry.
