SNTP: Foreign journalists detained at the border were released and deported

According to the union’s registry, between Monday, January 5 and Wednesday, January 7, six arrests and four deportations have been made on the border between Venezuela and Colombia.

The National Union of Press Workers (SNTP) reported that foreign journalists Jeff Martínez (Colombia) and Julián Mazoy (Mexico), detained when they tried to enter Venezuela through the border with Cúcuta, were released and deported.

«After 10 hours in detention, journalists Jeff Martínez and Julián Mazoy, foreign correspondents who tried to enter Venezuela through the border with Cúcuta, were released and deported shortly after noon on this day. #7Jan», the union wrote on its networks social.

The union body reported that foreign journalists were subjected to “psychological torture,” received threats, and had their work equipment and phones searched and emptied.
