The National Society of Radio and Television (SNRTV) condemned the kidnapping perpetrated by a group of patrolmen from Chota, Cajamarca, against journalists of the Fourth Power program and questioned the silence that the Government has shown in the face of these events.
Through a statement published on July 8, they considered that Eduardo Quispe and the cameraman Elmer Valdivieso were “kidnapped by a group of ronderos”, an act that violates Peruvian law.
“For this reason, the silence, disinterest and indifference shown by the Executive Branch in the face of this serious event continues to attract attention”they pointed out.

The SNRTV warned that the individuals who identified themselves as members of the Chodín peasant patrols were responsible for an attack against the press.
“The journalists from América TV were held against their will for more than five hours, having been stripped of their mobile equipment and cameras, as well as forced, under threat of their personal integrity, to issue a ‘pronouncement against the report’ on serious acts of corruption linked to the granting of a work in said region”warns society in its statement.
SNRTV highlighted its “strongest protest and condemnation against this attack on freedom of expression and information.
