Snacks Latin America announces that it will continue to market Piqueo Snax, which contains Cheese Tris

The company Snacks América Latina SRL informed that it will continue to market Piqueo Snax, which contains Cheese Tris, after the decision of the Indecopi which provides for the cessation and commercialization of the products Bimboletes marmoleado (Bimbo), panettone with raisins and candied fruits (Bell’s), and Cheese Tris (Frito Lay).

In a statement, it reported that the measure was adopted because it considers that said product “Meets all labeling and production parameters” established by the competent authorities.

It also pointed out that Piqueo Snax obtained favorable results from the analyzes carried out by the Indecopi, which -as stated- confirm that the product does not have trans fats.

“Additionally, we continue to carry out complementary studies to give our consumers peace of mind that the specific Cheese Tris product does not contain trans fats”, he remarked.

“We reiterate that all our products comply with the parameters and local labeling and production standards and we reaffirm the commitment to provide our consumers with transparent and truthful information about them”, he sentenced.

As it is recalled, Indecopi imposed a precautionary measure for the cessation and commercialization of the marbled Bimboletes products (Bimbo), panettone with raisins and candied fruits (Bell’s), and Cheese Tris (Frito lay) that would contain trans fats in an amount greater than that established by current regulations such as Supreme Decree 033-2016-SA.

According to the resolution, companies are required to, within a maximum period of thirty business days, counted from the day following notification of the resolution, comply with withdrawing all units of the observed product that have been placed on the market through its different distribution and / or marketing channels.

In addition, the governing body mentioned that in the laboratory tests carried out as part of the investigations, it was verified that the indicated products would present trans fatty acids of technological origin other than partial hydrogenation in an amount greater than 2g per 100g of fat. .
